Years ago when I chose this domain and thought about starting a new blog, I’d just moved back to a town that I used to wish I lived in, even though it wasn’t my most ideal location. But as indicated by my choice of blog name, it was the “intersection” of what I dreamed of vs what was actually possible in reality.

The town was suburban not urban core, but it was on the water with lots of scenic spots. It wasn’t walkable, but I was able to afford to buy an absolutely fabulous little townhouse that was quite suited to my needs at the time and I expected to be there for almost forever.

But time passes, life changes, and what I thought would be forever turned out to just be a temporary stop on the road of life.

For many years I’ve had a suppressed desire to live out on the Washington coast, but I kept setting that aside as an illogical, unlikely dream. After the difficulty of the past few years, last fall I decided it was time to take that dream off the shelf and make it happen.

It’s been a chaotic few months as I searched for housing, planned the move, packed up six years of life (and garden!) prepared the townhouse for sale, and hauled everything 100 miles away to my new home town. Not to mention towing a trailer for the first time in over 25 years.

Now Finn and I are settling in at the new house, and as the art goes up on the walls and the boxes get unpacked it slowly starts to feel more like home.

Most importantly, I still have plenty of easy access to our wonderful Pacific Northwest beaches for sunsets!
