Living in the Pacific Northwest means no shortage of mountains, and until recently I thought I was drawn to those mountains and the forests on them. Then I spent a day at Mount Rainier National Park and while it was an amazing experience, it brought the realization that mountains are beautiful but I prefer the ocean, even with our classic Pacific Northwest rocky shores.
Not long after my trip to Mount Rainier, I made the trek over to the Olympic Peninsula to visit Point Wilson Lighthouse at Fort Worden State Park. And for a while I just sat on the beach and listened to the sound of the ocean crashing on the shore. It brought more peace than any forest hike or mountain drive ever has.
