My garden plans are still mostly on hold while I wait for the new, deer-proof fence to be built (soon. . . . . . ) But today I couldn’t resist a quick trip to the local garden center on my lunch break, to scope out options and pick up some deer-resistant native plants.
A couple of very nice Oregon Grape shrubs came home with me, and should be suitably spiky to keep the deer from nibbling much.

But even better than plants, was finding one of the hummingbirds stopping for her own lunch break at one of the big flowering shrubs!
I’m pretty certain the plant is a Charity Mahonia.
Isn’t she just adorable?

Beautiful photos!
